Thornbird
THREE GUYS. You've heard them. Separately, they've played in some of L.A.'s top-rated unsigned bands. Together, their song "So Beautiful" was featured on the hit NBC television show Providence.Now they've hit the road, with no label support or distribution deals. Bella, Spanky and Pat--aka thornbird--have left their homes in Los Angeles to promote their self-produced CD, Denim. Together they will travel more than 10,000 miles across the U.S. to spread their uniquely contagious music and infectious live performances to new audiences in universities, clubs, bars and coffeehouses everywhere.
THE AUDIENCE is a part of the show in each and every thornbird performance. This three-piece pop unit can't sit still--the guys have a bad habit of bringing the show off the stage and right into their fans' laps. With a tip of the hat to artists like Matchbox 20, U2 and Sheryl Crow, along with "just enough" Beatle-esque production, thornbird creates a seductive blend of guitar-driven rock and pop--both electric and acoustic--that has proven itself instantly likeable and radio-ready.
As lead vocalist and guitarist, BELLA is the primary creative force behind the band. Previously, he won acclaim as the frontman for Dogma I-- Music Connection's best unsigned band for 2001.
Besides playing electric and standup bass, Eric "SPANKY" Arellano, can hold his own on drums and many brass and world instruments. He has rocked the L.A. scene with such bands as Taming Ingrid, Dead Babies, Rock Inc. and the acclaimed Dogma I.
Drummer PAT Simmons studied percussion under rock veterans Randy Carr (Social Distortion) and Ralph Humphrey (Frank Zappa). For the past decade, Pat has been a staple of the L.A. indie band scene with groups like ASHiD, Fragment and Vyrus, in addition to his work as a session player and on-call side man for various local bands.
